  • multisession and RW problem
  • Question by robi21000, Monday 22nd of September 2008 18:53
Im pretty sure it is software problem...

When I burn CD or DVD first session... everything is fine...

When i try to burn second session Nero said that disc is not writable...

I burned CD/DVD's for years... 1000+ times multisession or RWs...

I didn't close the CD... there is enough place in CD.... I tried 3 versions of Nero and I tried 2 writers... one is pioneer one is LG ....

What can be the problem... ?????

(i do not have Alcohol installed... - I know it can make some problems)

And when i try to erase RW disc.... program said that is not RW disc and cannot be erased... ????

You say you don't have Alcohol installed - have you had it installed on your machine at all? Or do you have something like Daemon Tools installed?

Most of us here don't use multi-session.

Welcome to the forum BTW. Smilie
    Answer by robi21000, Monday 22nd of September 2008 23:18
    thank you.. Smilie

I didn't have alcohol instaled at all ... I have daemon tools... but it didn't make any problems before...

    so it looks like that:
I have daemon tools.... I burning multisession, I erasing RWs ..... I can't burn multisession, I can't erase RWs .... I still have daemon tools... I am pretty sure daemon is not guilty Big Grin
    Answer by robi21000, Monday 22nd of September 2008 23:26
LOL I find the problem... Big Grin yipiiiiiiii

yap daemon was guilty... actually daemons emulations.... I have all emulations turned on... now I turned all off... and erasing RW is working Big Grin great... thanks for help.... I will try multisession, but not today Wink and I will update situation here...

    Thanks again
Answer by DrageMester, Monday 22nd of September 2008 23:27
Try looking in options in Daemon Tools and see if you have something called "Ignore Media Type" (or similar) enabled. If it's enabled try disabling it.

This can make the difference for writing to CD media, but I don't remember if it also helps for DVD media.

    Welcome to CDFreaks! Smilie

EDIT: You figured it out yourself while I was typing my reply! Smilie

Hehe, glad it's working! I had a suspicion that if it wasn't Alcohol, Daemon Tools (or rather, its emulation settings) could possibly be the culprit Wink

ok thank you all for help... you are "freaks" indeed Big Grin just kidding...

And I will not disappear now ... when I have my problem solved... I will continue posting here...

And sorry for my bad english pls... it is not my nature language so I do my best... but it is far from perfect...

I guess DrageMester was pointing me at "Hide CD-R" option... it can be turned on/off from options or from emulations too.... I think that's the one responsible for problem

Great to hear you'll keep posting Agree

And yep, the Hide CD-R option is 99% likely to be the problem...I was going to tell you that too, but you fixed it yourself first! Clap

BTW, your English is just fine Wink

  • pio 112d in a enclouser
  • Question by heaventxu, Monday 18th of August 2008 21:37
i has been using a pio 112d in a enclosure to burn dvd for a few months, it
was working very well.but it refused to work now, here is the issue, (nero 8)

it will start to 2 Or 3% and then stop, the light flash for a while and stop,
the program stacks there for quit a while , and then give a error, the device is
unavailable, even i close all other program, still the same issue.

i used the tool of nero to test the speed, it works very well in simulate burnning, and it works on other laptop can burn dvd without problem.

it seems the communication problem,i tried to updat firmware and uninstall the usb controller and reinstall it, it won't work, i dont' want to reinstall the OS, any good suggestions ?

    thanks,Confused

    Welcome to the forum Smilie

To exclude a damaged drive, I think that a good way is trying to install it internally on a desktop (maybe you can ask a friend to do a test).

Alternatively, it can be a problem in the external box. Can you try a new USB cable? Can you try to install the drive on a different box (again, you can ask a friend if you don't have a spare one).

Another possibility is that you installed some software that can cause conflicts. For example, Alcohol (if not correctly configured) can cause issues, but also packet writing softwares like InCD can cause drive malfunctioning (most of times with rewritable discs).

What discs are you using exactly? Also a very low quality disc can cause these problems. What burning software are you using? Can you post a log here? Smilie

    Error ! - Disregard
Answer by heaventxu, Monday 18th of August 2008 22:28
it works when i connect to other laptop, so should be no problem on burner and cable, and the usb port is good too, cause i use the webcam and wireless mouse without issue.
and it is not the problem of the disk, cause i can burn it, when connect to another laptop

    @ heaventxu,

Your “Its not the problem of the disk, cause I can burn it, when connect to another Laptop” test of Disk Quality is unfortunately not a valid test of Disk Quality.

Provide the Media MID (Manufacture ID and Media Code) (Example: TYG02) of the Media you are attempting to Burn. To obtain Media MID use a software utility similar to DVDInfo (http://www.dvdinfopro.com).

Exactly what is the undisclosed “Error” that you are receiving. Provide the fully complete untruncated Error Narrative and Error Code you are receiving.

Also provide a Nero Log of a failed Burning attempt for analyst.

Make sure the USB port is fully powered, meaning, turn off power saving if you are connecting it directly to a laptop port, or, if you are connecting it to a hub, stop doing that (burners and hard drives should NOT be connected via hubs), but if you're hard-headed and want to do it anyway, make sure it's a powered hub.

Assuming that you are attempting to make a BackUp Copy of an original Commercial DVD Movie Title what Software Program and Version Number are you attempting to use make your BackUp Copy. Exactly what are the BackUp Copy procedures you are attempting to use?

Provide any complete untruncated Error Narrative and/or Error Codes you are receiving when attempting to make a BackUp Copy of an original Commercial DVD Movie Title.

What is the Firmware version of your Pioneer DVR-112D DVD Burner?

What is the Media MID (Manufacture ID and Media Code) (Example: TYG02) of the blank DVD Media you are attempting to use to make the BackUp Copy of an original Commercial DVD Movie Title?
