Why is it called CD Freaks.com?
At the time this site in 1997 started there was only one main stream optical storage product available: the Compact Disc. The name comes from the abbreviation of Compact Disc (CD) and the word freaks, making clear that we love to do things with CD’s and go in depth when it comes to information about this product.
Trough the years new and improved technologies have emerged but the name CD Freaks remained. Many people around the world know us by this name and it would be a waste for us to change it.
Who is responsible for this site?
CD Freaks was started in 1997 as a small website on a free webspace account. Currently the website runs on multipe servers and serves millions of visitors every month. It is clear that also the management of the website had to grow and changes have been made the past years.
The website is a publication that has been brought into the company RankOne Media Group B.V. This is a privately held company located in the Netherlands. The company has a management team consisting of Robin van Lieshout and Jan-Willem Aldershoff. RankOne Media Group B.V. has the task of ensuring the operation of the website by delivering the infra structure and manpower required to manage the community. In return the company receives the advertising fees.
A very important role is there for the volunteers that make CD Freaks as it is. News updates and maintenance of the software, media, devices and price watch sections is possible through a team of highly motivated volunteers that have proven to be very valuable to the site.
Besides this group of volunteers working on the product database, we also have a voluntary team of experienced reviewers. Many of them already working for us for many years and providing the most in-depth and extensive reviews on digital storage products currently available on the internet.
