Hi
Please forgive me if this question seems old! I recently bought a DVD burner for my PC: HP DVD1035 (on the case) and it shows up in the Device Manager as HP DVD1035r. The firmware is NH21!! It is a IDE DVD Writer (I'm using 80 pin IDE cable)
System:
Windows XP SP3
Mainboard: Asus P5Q SE/R
DVD Writer is using the IDE cable ALONE and jumper is set to MASTER.
Driver Details: ...system32driverscdrom.sys
...system32driversimapi.sys
...system32driversredbook.sys
...system32storprop.sys
Driver version: 5.1.2535.0
Date : 1/07/2001
Publisher: Microsoft
Programs may associate with the DVD: Nero 8 Essentials (come with the drive), Alcohol 120%.
The problem I'm having is:
- It was working fine for the first 2 days then it "half-stopped". Sometimes it can read data cd, dvd and sometimes not. And now it doesn't read any disc (data CD, music CD, data DVD, Movie DVD, etc you name it).
- There is something weird about it is: It still read data CD + DVD VERY WELL not in WINDOWS (I tried the VISTA x86 DVD, XP SP3 CD, XP SP2 x64, Acronis True Image Recover CD, Hiren's BOOT CD, UBUNTU and it performs the job perfectly when I used those disc to start up the computer - sometimes it won't read VISTA x32 and UBUNTU Discs).
Problem solving:
- Tried to update the cd driver with driver genius pro => no use (no new driver)
- Every driver in my comp is up to date (using Driver Genius Pro).
- Tried reinstall/disable/enable => no use.
- 3 days ago, I called HP and they said will get back to me "right away" but until now still nothing ...
- Tried to flash a new firmware but there is no firmware to download from HP. No ultility to do it as well.
- Tried to install Windows VISTA, XP x64 => SAME PROBLEM.
PROs or ANYONE Please HELP!!! It is really frustrating to have a DVD Writer and U cant do anything.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCED!!!!!
