  • can write to new DVD rewriter
  • Question by sgharley, Tuesday 22nd of July 2008 08:20
I just purchased a LG GSA-E60L external DVD Rewriter. I have used it successfully on two laptops, but on the main laptop I use I cannot write to the DVD. I can listen to CDs, watch DVD movies, as well as view & open documents recorded to DVDs on one of the other PC. But when I try to moved, copy or save anything to the DVD, no luck.

I think it is because the discs do not format when inserted like they do on the other PCs.

the PC in question is a DELL Inspiron 600m. XP OS

Any suggestions?? how can I format them manually?

    Hi and Welcome!

    this is a software problem.
To use a blank DVD like a big floppy, you need to install software (Packet Writing software), which enables this feature. Normally, there is a copy of Nero with LG retail drives, which also contains the packet writing software InCD.

Please note, that installation of InCD might interfere with other CD/DVD burning software. Please also note that packet writing in general is not considered as very reliable.
