  • Question by slag5, Wednesday 5th of November 2008 18:29
ok iv read all over a million different forums and cant find any one with my exact same problem only similar problems so i have finally decided to post

let me start from the begining i took out my hitachi 59 and while trying to put it in mode b at 4am i crossed the 8 and 1 wires instead of 9 and 0 so that drive is bricked, it says "open tray" "opening" "close tray" on dashboard

however, i did get the key from it and save it in a notepad document

so without doin any research at all i bought a samsung ms28 (because 8 is a bigger number than 5) after reciving this drive i discovered i have to have via chipset, which i dont so i went out and bought the little PCI card thing (the vt6421 or whatever it is).

and i flashed this drive but i didnt spoof it as a 59 or inject the key into the samsung firmware so it also said "open tray" "opening" "close tray"

i then read a tut on how to spoof a samsung as a hitachi and in this tut it said to do the cross wire trick on the samsung as well as the hitachi (aparently this person was retarded....or maybe i was retarded for listening to him) so after discovering the real way of spoof and flashing a ms28 as a hitachi 59 i hooked everything back up and still got the "open tray" "opening" "close tray" thing

i now assume that doin the cross wire trick on a samsung drive has bricked it even tho iv been told samsung drive are virtually impossible to brick

so this time i buy a ms25 i spoof the samsung firmware as the hitachi 59 and inject the hitachi key i prepare the usb bootable thing and flash the ms25

but when i hook everything up and start up the xbox 360 guess what dashboard tells me

    "open tray" "opening" "close tray"

there is no noise what so ever from any of the three drives, all three of these drive do the same thing they are completely dead

i hate to belive that these two sammys are bricked because it is supposedly virtually impossible...i dont want to buy a fourth drive someone please help me

    is the xbox mobo fried?

have a flashed two many firmwares on one drive and "gummed it up"?

are the multiple firmwares that have been flashed on these drives not complatible with each other?

how to i wipe all the flahses iv done and start over with a clean slate?

  • New!DVDFab Decryptor + ImgBurn = Unplayable DVD movie in xbox 360?
  • Question by MBHockey, Wednesday 5th of November 2008 00:36
I am a Mac user, but the DVD ripping/burning selection is absolutely brutal so I do all of my burning and ripping in Parallels.

I have an external samsung se-204s with a patched TS02 firmware (by Patch Utility). I'm trying to make backups of all my DVDs to Verbatim +R DL discs but the one I ripped and burned today (Transformers) does not work on my xbox 360 (it says 'unplayable disc') but it plays fine on a crappy $20 standalone DVD player (including not skipping at the layer break I chose in ImgBurn -- the firmware patch changed the book-type setting to DVD-ROM for my burned discs, I believe).

I ripped the DVD with DVDFab and then burned with ImgBurn following its accompanying directions to the T.

Can anyone help me out here? Ideally, I'd like my backups to play on the xbox 360 since it is hooked up to the main TV.

    Hmm...How do you edit posts?

I should mention that the xbox is NOT the Elite, just the regular Premium xbox 360 (white; 20GB hard drive).

Do they have crappy drives? The movies I burned with Toast on the Mac side work on it (except I get the stupid layer-break pause which is what I was trying to avoid by using ImgBurn).

by default ImgBurn will bitset dvd-rom

    20:24:52 Book Type Setting: N/A

looks like your current drive/firmware does not support booktype bitsetting.

again i dont know, but does the xbox 360 require dvd-rom to play correctly.

seems ripping and burning was good if the disc will play in another stand alone player.

i do know, there are many happy owners of xbox 360 here at cdfreaks. lets hope someone will come around and offer some valuable information. Smilie

I flashed my drive and the patcher (Patch Utility which i got off these forums) had the option to set that in the hardware, so I did it (set the book-typing to DVD-ROM). It seems to have worked. DVD +R DL burned with the drive now show up as regular DVD-Roms in OS X and in Nero DiscSpeed...do you think that is still the issue?

Besides, the DVD +R DLs i burned in Toast (with a different, non-patched drive -- the internal one in my MacBook Pro) were not set with a book-type to DVD-ROM and they played fine on the xbox 360

  • hookup Xbox hardware to pc
  • Question by quietobserver, Thursday 4th of September 2008 12:51
Hi, I'm new. I have an Xbox that does not play xbox games anymore. It plays music from a cd just fine so I don't think it is the laser. Anyway I was thinking of trying to hook it up to my computer with an extended data cable to add the Xbox prosessor to my pc. Any help with either geting the xbox to work again or adding its hardware to my pc would be nice.

Did you swap dvd drives or flash your drive in your 360 recently? If you don't have a proper key on your drive, it will do exactly what you're stating, from what I've read.

  • Bug when encoding to xbox 360 2 pass
  • Question by jesper9, Saturday 12th of July 2008 10:17
This issue is a problem in DVDFab 5.03.

when a movie is encoded with 2-pass encoding the subtitles are lost.

This doesn't happen on 1-pass encoding.

The problem also appears in media player and media player classic

    hi,

if you run a 2-pass on a wmv encoding the subtitles are lost. for 1-pass encoding the subtitles appear fine.

This is found on DVDFab 5.03.
