  • NEC ND-3520A: Cd G compatible?
  • Question by Cedes, Wednesday 27th of August 2008 18:02
Can this burner read and write cd g's? (karaoke songs)
Answer by Arachne, Wednesday 27th of August 2008 21:57
    Welcome to CDFreaks Smilie

Run Nero InfoTool on your NEC drive and see if the CD+G box is ticked.

If it is, that would indicate to me that it does support CD+G, as my NEC 4551A and Optiarc 5170S both support burning and reading them.

You can find InfoTool in the Nero Toolkit if you have Nero installed, if not it's available as a free download.

  • I get damaged dvd rw's after the second rewrite on my ND-3520AW
  • Question by dabuzz, Tuesday 26th of August 2008 20:55
Almost all dvd-rw disks I use get damaged after the second and sometimes after a few more rewrites. Not entirely but slight transparent stripes or spores get on the disk like water has been sling to the sides of the disk. Those areas are unreadable and after one burn I can thro the dvd-rw away because it gets these errors allot. Is my dvd burner ready for the trash bin or did I get a bad badge of disks. The first 10 where Philips and the second 10 are Kruidvat disks. Is there a way to find out if the burner is beond repair?
    Answer by Ender.Wiggin, Monday 1st of September 2008 15:04
Are you using these DVD-RW for burning movies? If yes, do you have a DVD carousel player without a front loading tray? If yes, this might be the cause of your failed disks; my DVD carousel grabs and pulls in the DVDs scratching the DVD-RWs thus making them unusable after two or three viewings. Try burning only data to your DVD-RWs, and burn all movies to DVD-R disks to see if the burner is still OK...

Try a full erase using Nero/

  • Nec 3520 stopped burning d/l
  • Question by pgb864, Wednesday 6th of August 2008 15:43
All of a sudden, the unit won't burn d/l's, several different brands, which I have used in the past.

It still burns single layers without a problem.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

    Paul

    Welcome to CDF Smilie

Have you tried Verbatim? I'd say 2.4x +R DL for best results.

What are the brands you've tried?
    Answer by pgb864, Wednesday 6th of August 2008 15:57
I'll give that a shot, used mostly Memorex, and up until the other day zero problems. I just burned a s/l with a TDK and it's perfect.
Answer by Arachne, Wednesday 6th of August 2008 16:00
Since Memorex uses different manufacturers for their discs, it could be that the ones that don't work, are made by a different company than the ones that did.

Verbatim is definitely the best bet, as you know what you're getting every time. Smilie

Since SL burning works, I'd doubt that there's a drive problem Smilie

    Thanks for your help.

When I go out this afternoon, I will buy a pack of Verbatim.

I'll let you know what happens.
