I have updated the driver for this drive and everything was fine. Now it wont write to disks. I have tried various disk brands. it will play ok. HELP please.
Is pioneer a good brand name?Really Sad
Answer by Arachne, Wednesday 20th of August 2008 15:26
    Welcome to the forum Smilie

Yes, Pioneer make excellent drives. What burning software, brand of disc, and burn speed are you using?

Do you have an error log from your burn software (you may have to sacrifice another disc for this) that you can post for us to look at?

Also, you just say "won't write to disks" - is this both CD and DVD media?
    Answer by bevills1, Wednesday 20th of August 2008 15:30
What program are you trying to write discs, and are there any error messages? Which firmware are you using, and which disk brands have been tried?

It should be under CBig Grinocuments and Settings*Name of User*Application DataImgBurnLog Files if you have not changed anything in ImgBurn.

And substitute whichever name you have as the user for *Name of User*.

Can you burn other types of dvds or cds? Does the drive play dvds that are commercially made, or previously burned disks?

    Change to better media.
    Lower your burn speed.
    Change packet writing to SAO

    hi bradpaterson ,

please see the following thread -->

    http://club.cdfreaks.com/f116/burn-fails-platinum-but-disc-plays-248102/

I don't think there's an immeadite fix for this unless you can use another burning method (other than the VSO) but seems a couple of related threads, so you not alone and it defo' looks like a problem.

If you watch these posts I'm sure there'll be some news soon

    Just to answer your questions

    • Media: Imation DVD-R 16x Speed
    • Burn Speed: Have tried all including the lowest without any luck.
    • Packet Writing: How do you do that?

    Answer by Dialysis1, Tuesday 8th of July 2008 10:44
In the commom settings click on Write.
Imation is not considered good media.
