Dear anyone,
I am experiencing some problems while burning a data DVD from my new laptop while Using Nero 8 software.
The problem is that while burning the DVD, at the end i get a Data Verification error and the disk is shown as empty. (infact the drive which is earlier showing it as DVD +RW now shows CD drive).
I just want to creat backup of my computer files which contains various documents, pictures, videos, flash games etc. and have tried to burn it at low speed i.e. 2.4X but when the process is completed, in the end i always get data verification failed. The disc which i am using is a DVD +RW and have also tried it in a DVD -R but the same error comes.
burning CD's is no problem and have done it a lot of times, but if anyone can help me in burning DVD's it would be a real help. (I have a backup HD and move the files there also but really want to know this process too...perhaps i am missing something). Need to know if its the disc or the player.
I have the error log files saved and if some expert can review this to sort out the problem please let me know.

Sense Key: 0x05 (KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST)
As recommended above try with better media....
And just for the heck of it, try with IMGBurn instead ,just to rule out Ner0..
And maybe free up some memory in use,now at 82%.....
Or get external writer,or exchange lappy or....well try the tips first...
Good luck!

Thanks for the responses.
tried verbatim....freed space....banged my head on the wall 3 times.
no changes....the same bloody error. I bought this Memorex instead of Verbatim earlier, coz they were more pricey and i thought price=quality. The dVd writer in the lappy is not old...till now only wrote 5,6 cds. and played only a few CD's in it. but don't know...anyways will try at friends place and see if i am successful there. and searching for IMG burn
Otherwise, will buy a nice baseball bat. (it will help in crushing the machine).
