Unfortunately, I have no consumer electronic products in my possession. Also, there are no products I have on my wannahaves list at this moment. My Reactions:
Hemi, I have an idea. If you hear a knock on the door, look out the window first. If it's 20 cops and the MPAA then you may want to go out the back door. I'm just sayin'.

I have to agree with Shaolin007. I didn't make the jump from Windows 98 SE to XP Pro until SP2 was released. SP2 fixed a lot of stuff. I'll wait a bit before I install a "trial" copy of Windows 7.

Yeah, I'd have to say it's closer to 50 percent.
All I know is I just bought a Sylvania iPod Touch knockoff at Future Shop for $70 plus tax (so $79). It's nowhere near as slick as the Touch, but the AC/DC MP3s I threw on sound awesome and I just ripped and converted Pitch Black and threw that on. Looks great. Nobody tells me what to do with the music or movies that I buy. If they try then that's when Duke fires up his bittorrent program and punishes them. The golden...

If all I care about is watching the movie then this would be okay for me, right? I almost never watch extras.

The people who bought 1st gen SSDs are going to be bawling pretty hard when data rot starts to set in.

I figure a new tv later this year, probably Boxing Day week sale. I can't get one now because my 2 year old boy will smash it up. This would, undoubtedly, make me cry... quickly followed by him crying. LOL.
BD player should also be the same day. I figure a BD player has to do a better job uf upsampling DVDs than my Phillips DVP5990 (which rocks, btw). I'll also load up on some $10 BD movies and have a go. I'm just saying it would be stupid of me to get rid of 600+ DVDs I've already...

Johnzap, imagine Germany saying you couldn't buy Crysis just before it was released. Yeah, that would have gone over well. If people want something badly enough, whether it's booze or video games, then they'll get it. Organized crime won't let us down.

Hey, I'm not there yet. First I'll need to buy an HDTV then check out how good upsampling is. I saw a friend's OPPO do 1080p upsampling of The Polar Express and it was pretty good. If I do go Blu-ray, it'll be just a few movies that I want to see in hi-def. My 600+ store-bought DVDs will stay where they are.

Yes, but there has to be a point where nobody makes any money if LCD prices keep dropping. Then they'll just stop making them until the economy is better, or so I would think. I'm guessing my next tv will be 120 Hz with LED. Can't wait. I might even spring for a Blu-ray player seeing how a lot movies are down to $10. Time will tell. There are a few movies I really want to see in 1080p, The Fifth Element being at the top.

My wife and I each have a simple Nokia pay-as-you-go phone hooked up to Virgin Mobile's network. No camera, no web surfing, no army knife... just a phone. We each pay $100 a year. Life is good.
I think texting is 5 cents per text message sent, but I've used it only once. It's free to receive a text message.

Yeah, same here. I think the tech needs to ferment a bit longer before I make the jump. What's the life span of an SSD? Less than 5 years?

If Prohibition taught society anything, it's that telling people they can't have something makes them want it even more. If you want something bad enough, you're going to get it. This ban would just drive the games underground.

Are you talking about violence becoming part of our evolution as a society? If so, I agree. I play violent games, so my son sees this and he plays, maybe not making him violent but putting it in his subconscious. Through the years and generations this becomes part of our genetic makeup. Who knows. We've always been violent, especially males. I doubt we'll ever be able to completely remove the caveman mentality from our DNA.
Here is a great example. I'm a pretty easy going guy, but...

I can see their point, but I have to side with Hemispasm on this one. In general, kids today aren't being raised properly. Moral values aren't as strong as they used to be and kids these days get away with lots more than when I was a kid back in the 70s. Parents today just want their children to watch tv, play on the computer, play video games, or send text messages. Whatever keeps them quiet.
