My products

Unfortunately, I have no consumer electronic products in my possession. Also, there are no products I have on my wannahaves list at this moment.

My Reactions:

Any technology that eliminates humans from the process and turns it over to malware-infested Windows systems is a good thing. :P

The problem is probably plastic fatigue, especially in the presence of heat.

The major problem with the case is that Jammie isn't a good defendant. She was just the only one to fight them. A lot of other defendants may have had better chances but they settled.

What "just works" depends on the hardware. I have hardware that won't work with Linux. I have hardware that won't work with any Windows NT-7 RC.

On Linux when hardware is supported by an open-source driver it is usually supported forever. On Windows the manufacturer decides what to support and when. I have lots of usable hardware that won't work with Vista or 7RC because the manufacturers decided to not update their drivers. If you buy a new PC that...

According to VP Dave Heiner, OEMs will be dealing with the problem so for new PCs it's not an issue. Stores will probably just offer a free CD with all the popular browsers on it for retail Windows customers. For pirates it never was a problem. Big Grin

You should pay more for a better OS like XP. After all, you're getting a better screwing.

Disconnection will definately stop piracy. It's not like a pirate can just put copyrighted works on removable storage devices and share them....oh wait! FAIL!

I just replaced the 6AG6 tube in my set. It's one of those color models that cost me $400 back in '65. I'm not about to throw it out just because the FCC says so. If it ain't broke then don't fix it.

"Pretty soon, the only thing distinguishing Windows netbooks from their more powerful relatives will be the 1 GB RAM limit Microsoft imposes on them."

I really appreciate it when software determines my maximum hardware limits. pukey

There have been games where bugs and design flaws became features that could be exploited by pros. Joust was one of the earliest I know of. The original Quake had several that allowed a player to move faster than normal which is how the speedruns were performed. It's really hard to identify what are bugs versus design flaws. If the law is limited to exploitable flaws that can compromise a client or server system then it would make more sense.

Unfixable bugs can be easily fixed in the EULA.

If you're not sending more money to the RIAA then you must be doing something wrong.

To be realistic you would have to compare the spread of this malware with that of malware found in pirated versions of Office.

The mathematical process for deriving fictional statistics is too complicated to explain here. Ask one of their lobbyists.

They should have used DRM on the ACTA draft.

I know someone who bought an EeePC 1000 with Linux and didn't like it. It was too limited and unstable. It wasn't Linux that was the problem, it was the half-baked Xandros mess that Asus used. Lots of bugs and the "simple" desktop only shows a few of the applications that are installed. The user plans to replace this OS mess Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) when it comes out later this month.

It's amazing how many OEMs do a bad job with the OSes. You...

This would mean that in the right circumstance the average Windows system could power the entire neighborhood.
