Bios settings are set to the default settings, no tweaking at all. Why would IRQ matter? I don't see how an irq conflict could cause this, especially since usb/ide would be on two completely...

My products
Unfortunately, I have no consumer electronic products in my possession. Also, there are no products I have on my wannahaves list at this moment. My Reactions:
It's all about being customer friendly. Unfortunately blu-ray isn't. Regioncodes all over again. This is the main reason I don't touch the format. I love HD, I love owning movies, but don't expect me to love taking DRM+restrictions in the rear.
When I pay for something I wan't to be able to do with it as I please. With blu-ray I can't.
As long as they obviously hate their customers, the customers will dislike them.
On the bright side, there is a very good alternative out there. One...

This has been done before. One of the first apps to rip DVDs called dvd2vcd did the same.

Optodisc may produce a nice pi/po result at times, but I have serious doubts to their lastability. The 4x ones were horrible.

Unfortunately I have a MSI mobo and the other dude an ASUS one. Still interesting though because this proves there is actually a problem.

Well as mentioned, every other burner works. The other guy with the same problem has a different mobo, but same chipset. I was hoping this was a problem someone could help me with instead of the...

Its win2000 so it only shows DMA or PIO. It was set to DMA when it was internal, but I don't see how this should apply since 1. same bug in both internal and USB and 2. There was never any...

I own both a pioneer 109 and 110, and they both have random lockups on my nforce4 based machine. I use normal windows IDE drivers, and other burners like the BenQ1640, nec3500 and Lite-On 1673S work...

I guess this is part 7 of my scanspam.
4x media galore.
This drive does not seem to like 4x sony at all. It even refused to burn my
4x fortis media (also sony...

I think the problem is the price. I have both 2.4 and 8x verbatims, but they are too expensive, atleast for me, to just waste on random data.

As requested, here is a 16x dvd+r burn done in the 1640 and scanned with the 1655. As you can see, the spikes are still there.
I can do a 1620 burn too if wanted.

Seems im back. Good to hear my scans are appreciated.
So I figured out it was time to test the LightScribe capabilities of the drive.

Right then.. I won't be posting any more scans at all then. And I was far from done.
Nor will I probably bother posting scans from other drives as I get them.

Again I make my point that I don't scan to prove that my media is better than someone elses media with the same drive.
I would dare to say that since this is a followup to a great drive, namely...

Different drives scan differently - This is true, and this is exactly WHY I use the 1640. I did not make these scans so I could see if my TY scan was better than someone elses TY scan. I made these...

I use the 1640 for scanning because that's the drive I've scanned all my other media with from other drives (LG4167, 1640, plex 716, pio109 etc). This way I can best compare media quality between the...

Spartane: I did a test of the 1640 when it was brand new, and I must say I find those results better than with the 1655. So in my opinion its a bit of a letdown. Still a great drive though.
