Panasonic Japan today officially announced its first Blu-ray Disc burners. The SW-5582 is a half-height burner with support for burning and reading BD-R/RE single layer (SL) and dual layer (DL) discs at 2x speed (72 Mbps) as well as writing and reading all DVD and CD formats. A retail version of the drive, called LF-MB121JD, will also be available in Japan on June 10.
Panasonic also announced two BD slim burners for notebooks, the UJ-210 and the UJ-215. The former is a tray loading drive and the latter is a slot loading drive:

... Still as sayed 1 gen. devices are costy and crappy .. so I`ll wait for the gen. ore gen. 3 .... who need HD-DVD and BlueRay now anyhow ? Dual Layer DVD will do just fine ...
