Just a month after Toshiba recalled 73,554 portable DVD players, it has now made yet another recall, this time for 142,000 DVD player AC adapters. Like the previous recall, the DVD player has a risk of overheating when an affected AC power supply fails. So far, there have been two reports of minor damage in which the base of the DVD players were damaged, but luckily no reported injuries.
The affected DVD players were sold from January 2005 to April 2006 with a retail price of $200 to $230. The affected AC adapters have "ADPV16" written on the adapter's side and the DVD players have a model "SD-P1600" printed on the serial label on the bottom of the player. Customers with the affected units should immediately contact Toshiba for a free replacement adapter and are advised to only use adapters provided by Toshiba.
