It looks like despite the claims about improved Windows Vista system performance with Seagate's new hybrid hard drives, so far they have managed to result in disappointing reviews. The drives ship in capacities of 80GB, 120GB and 160GB with 256MB of flash to take advantage of Vista's ReadyDrive.
The first impressions the drives have left are those "empty promise" feelings going by this DailyTech report. Melissa Johnson, a product manager for Seagate reckons this issue is caused by the use of incompatible BIOS and Operating System drivers.
When buying a new PC or laptop or upgrading an existing one for better performance, instead of spending extra on a hybrid drive, I would suggest getting a traditional hard drive and spending the extra on more RAM.
