The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) may have just kicked off, but there already is a growing buzz surrounding 3D TV -- a growing phenomenom with more companies slowly jumping on board, aiming for the living room and computer monitors.

South Korean company LG thinks 3D TV is the "next big thing" once the HD revolution begins to slow down.  The company already has several 3D TVs in the works, and announced during CES that it's developing a new 3D chipset it will use in TVs, plasma screens and projectors.

LG is expected to launch at least one 3D HDTV this year, with more on the horizon.

Panasonic called for companies to work together to create a new national standard for 3D content delivery to HDTVs.

The Japanese company also plans to begin selling 1080p 3D TVs sometime in 2010, with a Blu-ray player that also supports 1080p 3D content.

ViewSonic used CES as a platform to launch its Fuhzion line of 3D display devices, while Samsung also introduced a new 22-inch 3D panel for video gamers.

Sony also sees a future in 3D technology, introducing a new set of 3D glasses capable of projecting 3D images onto the lens.  The technology, despite still being a prototype, was introduced during Sony's opening keynote, with Sony CEO Howard Stringer and Tom Hanks showing them off.

Sony hopes to have the 3D glasses available on the market in a few years, but it's unknown if it'll be able to do so.

Walt Disney, Warner Bros., and several other major movie studios are working alongside manufacturers to try and create a single standalone 3D format for use on any 3D-ready television.
