D4rk0n3 used our news submit to tell us that over at Akihabara news, they are reporting the availability of some
content protecting discs from Ricoh! But there are some caveats...
|
Ricoh will soon sale a 16x DVD+R using the Technology VCPS or (Video Content Protection System) which will prevent any copy of your Data (video) if and only if, you fist burn on your DVD a special KEY and if you are using a HP or Philips DVD player/Burner.

So Let me get this straight. Who would want to buy this. Really, who cares about copy-protecting their burned video content. Not to mention who would want to pay more just to use this, but it is only effective in an HP or Philips DVD player/burner. Seriously, why pay more money for blanks that you already have to, not to mention the fact that it doesn't work in all players/burners. (Oh yea, also NO BODY WANTS THIS CRAP). Why do they have dumb compies like Ricoh keep spending tons of money on this worthless crap to protect content, when even it worked with every drive, it would eventually get cracked shortly afterwards. Oh yea...I forgot, most companies do that now (Such as Sony & Toshiba w/ HD-DVD/Blue-RAY)
