2 Cendyne drives reviewed @ CDRLabs.com

Our friends of CDRLabs have posted two new reviews today, one of the CenDyne Arsion 40/12/40 and one of the CenDyne Lightning IV 48/12/48 CD-RW. The Lighting does not need much introduction as it is based on the Lite-On 48/12/48, which is considered one of the best drives currently available.

Also the CenDyne Arsion 40/12/40 is based on a Lite-On drive, and it's therefor probably also not a suprise that the drive performances very well for a very decent price. A part of the conclusion of the Arison reveals this:

Part of conclusion:

CenDyne has an excellent track record here at CDRLabs. They've consistently scored near the head of the pack when compared to their peers, and the Arsion does not stray from that line. Thanks to the P-CAV writing capabilities, the drive is 5 seconds from being one of the fastest 40x writers in existence. Those skeptics out there that are still not sold on the USB 2.0 interface must take notice that it is more than capable in keeping this drive at maximum performance while maintaining maximum mobility.

Going back over the read data collected, I still remain impressed. Not only does it slightly exceed 40x at the edge of a disc, but it uses that to create an inflated average read speed. I can understand the people who claim that read speeds are "fast enough", but those are not the same people who have purchased Illusion Softworks' Mafia and had to sit through a full 3 CD, 1.8 GB installation. Performance isn't a frill, it's a requirement, and the Arsion gives it to us in an easy to carry external package.

You can read the review of the CenDyne Arsion 40/12/40 USB 2.0 CD-RW here, and the review of the CenDyne Lightning IV 48/12/48 CD-RW here.

As said above the drives are based on Lite-On drives. Read our review of the Lite-On 48/12/48 here here. Also be sure to visit worlds most active Lite-On Forum here.
