Saturday 24 June 2000 00:25
Hey look, I have d/l the complete set of files, inc an oem fix OK. I will install and let you know! I will assume the oem fix will let you install over your current OS. If you want to do a clean install from dos then dont use the oemfix OK. Now instead of moaning, at least try and install it OK It does give you an option to backup yer existing files if you want to remove windows ME, and go back to yer existing setup.
Jesus some peeps are hard to plz. Damm hard work for nothing.
c'mon at least try it, and download the oem fix OK
By
Unknown,
Saturday 24 June 2000 00:51
actually it DOESN'T give you the option with the REAL version!!! the version that you posted with the oem "fix" just changes the build number!! try installing it WITHOUT the fix on another partition and see what you get! all i am saying is that i believe that the version posted on your linked site is not the real thing
i appreciate your hard work but all i am saying is that i think that what you have is just another relese of RC2 that they put up so they could be the "first ones"
and if i am wrong you can come to my house and bitch at me all day ok?? im just tryin to help and im just passing on what i have learned about the many releases of windows me "final" that have just come out recently
so if i offended you or anyone else i am very sorry
i guess i can try downloading your "final release as well as my own to try them both out
sorry

Works fine take's over all my settings and programs are all working perfect.

Skunkie - which site did you get it from?
By
Unknown,
Saturday 24 June 2000 08:45
yeah and what is the build number??
By
Unknown,
Saturday 24 June 2000 09:26
NeWyAwKa - i think you run your mouth too much. the OEM fix he's talking about is obliviously the SWaT fix that lets you use the full install as an upgrade. and when you apply the fix, you can still do a full install from DOS.

To anyone:
I know this question is like the dumbest question ever, but what exactly is this Windows Millenium program? Is it like an operating system, such as the other Windows, or is it just some asshole-created useless program? Is it a Bill Gate's Microsoft release?
Please, someone answer these questions!
Thank you

oh and byte
those are rar files
you need to get a program like WinRAR or WinACE and extract them all
once you extract the files from the rars into a seperate folder, you can run setup if you want or you can put it on a cd
do what you want with them

Am I being dense but is this still a beta release????

By

account reached it's download limit! I can't download ME from godabuzz...
anyone with an alternative?
By
Unknown,
Sunday 25 June 2000 18:18
Grimreaper, I also have tried the update site for WinME, if you read carefully you'll see that the "BETA" is referred to the update site it self not the version of the WinME, it does make sense since a very similar message was displayed on Win 2000 update site When it was very new and not fully distributed.
Also just to let everyone know I have d/l and installed the WinME on top of the Win98SE along with a hell of a lot of utilities and Burning software and audio visual programs that I already had installed on Win98 SE and so far everything is working fine with no hassle with any of the programs or utilities for any version conflict and NO REGISTRY PROBLEMS. I did notice a very quick booting time much more so than Win98SE,has any body else experienced the same?

Crazee!! I've installed windows me (http://www.theinformantfilez.net) and now my system doesn't start! Only in SAFE MODE!!! My system: Asus k7v, Athlon 950, DIMM 256 mb 133 mhz, GeForge256 DDR, Sound Blaster 1024 Retrial, DVD NEC, plextor PXR820, scsi card (ADAPTECH 2904CD), HD Seagate 13 gb and Quantum 23 gb, Ethernet card (Genius Ge2500III SE (10 Mbps PCI)), modem 56k Rockwell, monitor Philips Brillance 109P (19"), etc.. Can anyone say me what can I do??? I've installed windows me in one HD, in the other I've windows 98se, win 2k and linux. http://digilander.iol.it/cattivik66
By
Unknown,
Sunday 25 June 2000 21:35
ATTENTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3000 is beta!!! RC2!!!!!!!!!!!
By
Unknown,
Sunday 25 June 2000 21:52
So what if it is. So far no complications with any software or hardware, As it stands the loading time kicks some serious ass when compared to 98SE and I don't see either my Geforce or SB Live complaining about Direct X 8.0 which is also a beta too.
By
Unknown,
Sunday 25 June 2000 21:53
Nope, the final build is 3000 and if I'm not mistaken the RC2 was build 2535?!
And since there has been so many different releases (at least three) I assume the SWAT-release is the oem-version and the "Windows.Millennium.RTM.Build.3000.2" is the retail version and the Free Loader release is a ISO of one of the above...
Correct me if I'm wrong...
By
Unknown,
Sunday 25 June 2000 22:16
build 3000 is NOT RC-2. build 2535.XX was build RC-2. i think i would know - i was on the beta test!

I also have problems with Rogue Spear. It won't startup, it hangs at the intro screen. Onybody knows what i can do about it???

cattivik66, its a bit strange that there is a very similar situation with yet another AMD system and WinMe. Have a look at the ORIGINAL POSTINGS DATED 20/6 UNDER THE HEADING WinMe Ready in the main page. As it looks it seems to be some sort of the chipset problem specific for AMD in the boards that are designed for them, seems a bit odd.
You can try to Flash your Bios to the very latest one available for your Mainboard and check for any patches or similar specific for your Main Board. At least its a start provided you have a spare machine that can connect you to the net. You might just want to try the clean install of WinME and see what happens, just a suggestion !

How do you dual boot? I've downloaded the SWAT release, and when installing it gave me no option to dual boot (with Windows 98SE). Help!

Anyone else experiencing problems with running certain games and appz under Win ME?
It would be nice if people would compile a list or report back to this board with the experiences..and hopefully solutions to the problem...

You CAN NOT dual boot a win9x Os with a win9x Os.. (windows ME is still build on the 9x kernel)
I got the PRIORITY release. Is this the final release or what?!!! It got version 2000.3 (I think)
By
Unknown,
Monday 26 June 2000 15:05
dtan88, if you REALLY MUST have a dual boot system then have a look for partition magic 5.0 in one of these sites and it would let you do the dual booting even with the operating system that are built on the same Kernel. I know this because I use to have a dual boot system with 95 and 98se since some of my programs were not to happy with 98.

Hey hendrixx, you have not said anything about your Vid Card, as to what i is and what version drivers are you running are they the absolute latest version even if they are Beta drivers. Have you tried to reinstall DirectX just incase if it was damaged. Check this site which is at the very top of this list http://www.theinformantfilez.net
and look under apps for the Direct X 8.0 its the Beta version obviously, but it works wonders. Give it a shoot and see. Good Luck Dude !

HEY, I have tried to install Me 6 times on my PC, inc a full install! I have an Asus K7V motherboard! I thought at 1st it might be my Geforce, so I put in an old trident PCI card, the same problem!
upgrading from Win98
After the install has gone through, and you are prompted to enter yer pw for window, it goes through, and then you get the error explorer has caused an error in explorer.exe (restart PC)
Clean Dos install
Goes so far, then locks up with a flashing screeen.
Took it to a friend who has a Pentium 2 and a Gigabyte mb, installed without any probs, damm I am mad

I have found a serious problem with an Athlon motherboard made by a company called ASUS! I have the board ASUS K7V I have had the following probs with Windows ME install(all beta versions inc the full release), and I feel you all need to know!!
I have sent an e-mail to Asus, and MS to see if the problem can be resolved!
I have tried to install Windows Me 6 times on my PC, inc a full install DOS! I thought at 1st it might be my Geforce DDR, so I put in an old trident PCI card, the same problem!

Tuesday 27 June 2000 06:12
Let me get this straight you actually emailed MS support regarding this problem ! One question? Don't they wonder how you happen to run WinMe when Technically you are not meant to have it yet!!!
By
Unknown,
Tuesday 27 June 2000 06:26
na! I have only e-mailed ASUS. But as I own a proper bought copy of Win98 SE than am I not able to bitch about the OS not suporting the Athlon, as Intel are in trouble! Hmm seems to me, that if you want to run Windows ME, then get a Pentium 3

Tuesday 27 June 2000 07:41
Funny you should mention that interceptor, believe me I have a feeling of the crap you are going thru. Why doesn't come as a surprise when they say Ms owns intel's ass !!! It's all a fucking scam, first it was the RAMDAC and now it's the processor. This shit really sucks !!!
I'll do what I can to find the solution for you sooner than those sorry ass brainless tech wanna be's in MS who have to puch every fucking word in their lame data base to find out what to do next

dtan88, try using the boot magic setion of your partition magic, its a separate program but it should be included with what you have.

The Serial No. shold be in a small text file "WinMe Key"which should be in the same directory that the WinMe is in.

Ok, anyone got a solution for me? I am played football with my little nephews all day, so have not had much chance to get here to ask you guys for some help. I think if enough flack was aimed at Asus, it would get sorted out,so please assist me.
