McAfee's security firm has issued a warning to be aware of a Trojan disguised as fake media files, which are currently in widespread distribution on Limewire and eDonkey file sharing networks. The Trojan is distributed disguised as MP3s, adult films and popular movie titles under various titles and in several languages to try tricking consumers into downloading it. One of MP3 variants is disguised as a Girls Aloud song.
When the Trojan file is opened, the user is asked to download a codec in order to play it, in which case it installs a bundle of adware on the system that plagues the user with advertisement pop-ups and also installs its own media player that will only play its own content. The attack only takes effect when the file is open on Windows.
According to McAfee, it has logged over 500,000 PCs that have received the Trojan, where their AV software is configured to notify McAfee of any malicious files detected, making this one of the largest outbreaks in almost three years. As a result, the actual number of those who received this Trojan is likely to be substantially larger, although other security companies have not found the Trojan to be as widespread as this. Only around 10% of those who downloaded the Trojan have actually tried installing the fake codec.

"This is why you don't download from P2P networks. You get what you deserved."
This is why you don't download from P2P networks with Windows.

Besides, anyone with a good head on their shoulders knows that the McAfee sucks.. My personal AV of choice is NOD32...

Not at all I like being honest and get personal pleasure out of doing such too.

P2P safest place 2b.

I'm with hypnonsis4u2nv, NOD32 is the best. It's strange how the popular AV programs usually suck...
