And now for something completely different: Request-a-Song!

It's not the weekend yet, but hopefully this will help make it seem a bit closer. Quite a unique idea has come come along with Request-a-Song.com. Here you can send in a phrase or interesting collection of words that you think would make a good song. The folks at the site look through all the submissions then pick the most inspiring and write songs about them. They apologize that they can't write a song for every request as they would quote: "probably suck" end quote.

Welcome to Request-A-Song.com (RAS). The concept of this site is quite simple, and if you haven't read about it on the front page already, this is how it works: You send us a song title, we write a song about it, record it, then publish it on this site for all to enjoy.

When visiting RAS, please keep a few things in mind. We cannot write songs for every request we receive--we have neither the time nor the energy required. You could also put it this way: if we did respond to every request, 98% of the songs would suck (even worse than they do already). Also keep in mind that while we like to think that this is a professional operation, it's not an operation with a large budget. So therein lies both the challenge and the charm of Request-A-Song: to whip up an entertaining song on demand about a random subject with limited resources.

Once the composition is complete it is provided for free to the masses in MP3 format for all to enjoy. It is fun to listen to the Top 20 list which has replaced the Top 10 list of most downloaded songs. I listened to "My dad thinks I'm gay" totally at random of course! And it wasn't half bad. Other tiltles include: "Thanks for the Herpes", "My Parents Found My Stash", "Sometimes I Fall Down" and the ever popular "Punch the Mayor". As if that wasn't enough they just released their first CD, "Best of Request-Vol.1". The first 50 will be autographed so you better hurry! You can also download desktop images such as the pictured Attack of the Cleff. Great job by a bunch of inventive folks! Visit them here if you need a break.

I wonder what will happen if one of these actually became a hit single.. Can someone claim it was 'their' idea behind it so they should be entitled to some of the money? Great idea tho!
