OmniPatcher for LiteOn DVD writers - one stop patching tool
Ssseth has emerged from deep within the forums and used our news submit to tell us "OmniPatcher combines many other tools into one easy to use application. A great showcase of a lot of hard work by the codeguys." -Ssseth

What is the OmniPatcher?

The OmniPatcher, as the name suggests, is a single firmware patching tool for LiteOn DVD-writers that combines the features and capabilities of several existing patching tools. The goal of this tool is to offer a "one-stop" tool that lets you customize your firmware to your heart"s content.

Key features:

  • Adjust DVD Writing-Speed Limits (also known as "speedhacking")... this version now recognizes +R9 media codes (though you can't adjust them)!
  • Increase DVD±R/RW/DL reading speed to 8x (also known as "readhacking")... this version will now bump up DL read speeds for 832S firmwares!
  • Enable auto-bitsetting
  • Earlier shift (faster burn) for 8x +R (one of the two patches that constitutes "burn-adjust")
  • Utilize "shift-fixing" for 6x/8x burns (one of the two patches that constitutes "burn-adjust")
  • Fix blinking orange light / Enable cross-flashing

Read the documentation enclosed in the package for more details!

Many thanks to forum moderator code65535 and also COdeKing for all the work they put in to projects such as these. Now if you are a lucky LiteOn owner, all you have to do is visit this thread to read more about the program and to find the download.

Ssseth forgot to say something. So I will say what is on his mind for him in appreciation for this story: Go Calgary Flames!

StarGhostWTF is this s**t? This looks like a gloryfied bug fixer which LiteOn should be releasing firmwares for. Is this even official???? It's not about using some dodgy software that will screw up my drive. [expletive modified]

CrabbyappletonI think it's pretty handy, makes it easy to create a custom firmware for your drive. YMMV but you could see some speed increases with various media for one thing. Smilie

code65536It's an unofficial firmware hacking tool. And as the warning says, as with all unofficial firmwares, whether they are ones released by Herrie or ones generated by this tool, the use of an unofficial firmware will technically void your warranty. If you don't like that (and understandably, there are people who don't), then don't use it.

Hey starghost before you post a response read about the software first. The code guys have done a lot of great things for the lite on user community. So again before you post a bunch of nonsense read about it first.
