An interesting piece of hardware, the AVB USB 2.0 mobile 4GB drive, a brand new dual channel SLC flash drive, has been reviewed at
Bjorn3D.
SLC stands for single-level cell, and it is one of the two main types of flash memories, the other being MLC (multi-level cell). SLC flash memories have the advantage of a lower power consumption and a lower probability of data errors (see also
this article for more details).
Another interesting feature of this pendrive is the dual-channel feature, that works in the same way of the dual-channel technology in mainboards, making this drive faster than single channel ones.
Three benchmark tests were executed in the Bjorn3D review:
- HD Tach RW v. 3.0.1.0
- HD Tune v. 2.52
- ATTO Disk Benchmarks
Test results are really interesting, and can found
here.
