American R&B singer and actress Aaliyah is among nine people killed in a plane crash in the Bahamas.
The Cessna passenger plane crashed and burst into flames shortly after taking off from the island of Abaco bound for Miami on Saturday night, police said. |

It's really awful when artists die at a young age... And it's really sad that she died when she was at the peak of her career!
As I read on CNN's page, the plane crashed because they were carrying too much weight (luggage in this case)... That made one of the engines fail at lift-off!
It feels even worse when you know that somebody has died because of such a stupid thing...

This is a tragedy, two great artists have died this year (Joey Ramone, Aaliyah). And although I never really liked Aaliyah's music, and haven't seen any movies that she was in, I hope that she is in a better place. My prayers are with her family, friends, and fans.
I've never felt shocked about death before, but this is the first time (I understand u get it better when u get older) ive ever been blown away by such tragic news. Really gobsmacked and it hasnt sunk in Incredible talent, loved the music, only saw her in RMD but she was fantastic in that too. RIP

It is so sad when this happens. She is a celebrity so we hear about it. It's too bad we don't mourn like this *everytime a yound lad or gal pass's accidently - let me say, though, that the carelessness of the airlines / pilot to forbid overweight in the cargo department disgusts me. This carelessness happens on a corporate level way too often - don't people care about thier jobs & take it seriously anymore? - it's sickening. Blessed be Aliyah's soul.

funny, stvastva, how you 'interpret' the CNN news. Back to the facts...
The handlers and the pilot complained about the overweight, still: the passengers wanted to leave with /all/ the luggage... This being a private flight, hired by 9 people, something you and me can't even think off... Do the links 'private flight' and 'lots of luggage' ring a bell? Clearly, nobody deserves to die this way, but it teaches us not everything can be bought with money, and certainly not gravity laws...
My thoughts are in the first place with the pilot, who is a much more a victim of the corporate system than 9 people who thought it was so important to take all their luggage...
im sorry for my statement too .. im no racist or a sadist ... i just wanted to be funny .. i think it wasnt the right moment
