BTC 16x DVD dual drive with 7 in 1 card reader hits the market

BTC leads the way in your digital world with 16X DVD Dual Rewriter / 7-in-1 Card Reader Super Combo Drive

BTC has just released the latest and greatest of its Dual Digital Storage (DDS) series products, the all new DRW1016IB. This half height drive combines the functionality of an 8 speed dual format DVD rewriter and a 7-in-1 digital card reader into one, thus allowing you to burn all popular CD (CDR, CDRW) and DVD (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+R DL(8.5GB), DVD-RW, DVD+RW) formats as well as read from or write to all the popular memory card formats that are used in today's digital devices like digital cameras, MP3 players, etc. The drive is fully compatible with Compact Flash, Micro Drive, Smart Media, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Secure Digital and Multimedia Card formats. No matter if you want to playback, copy, edit, backup or burn data from/to your memory cards or from/to optical media, the DRW1016IB is up to the task, faithfully recording every bit of your digital life.

This 16 speed DDS digital card reader and DVD burner combo drive has a unique dual direction data transfer mode, allowing you to browse and edit your images after inserting your digital memory card into one of the memory slots. After perfecting your images with your favorite image editor application you can then safely burn them onto a disc or backup to any other storage media.

Furthermore, the hot pluggable USB2.0 compatible front connector allows for convenient and fast connection of for example a portable disk drive or MP3 player, making the transfer of data from one medium to another, whether optical or a memory card, as simple as A-B-C.

Once again BTC has succeeded in leading the market one step further into an exciting digital world, where data can be easily exchanged, edited and converted from one medium to another. Creating new things that add unparalleled value to your digital life, that is what BTC's brand new DRW1016IB is all about!

Zodpeople still use floppies? Smilie I tend to just email myself documents i'm working on. Always had a problem with destroying floppies. This drive seems pretty cool though, allthough It'd didn't seem to cover the XD ram I use for my digital camera (not that its really hard to plug it into the usb port and copy it that way)

Jucius_MaximusJust get a USB floppy drive and plug it into the USB 2.0 connector on the front. cool

Jucius_MaximusHonestly I think this thing is a good 'toy' but I like to keep separate functionality such as card readers, DVD writing and USB 2.0 connectivity in separate places. Otherwise if you upgrade that drive and want to keep the functionality, then you have to go to the trouble of finding another one with front USB, card reader, etc. And what if a new card format comes out? You then buy a new combo card reader for that, and then part of your DVD drive is obsolete and redundant simultaneously. That's why I think this drive is not for me. I like to upgrade in a more modular manner.

WesocietyI like the innovation here, although it is not 'new' and BTC has included this same integrated card reader with past models. The main point to focus on is that this device is primarily a DVD WRITER. And past history shows that BTC DVD writers aren't that good with a wide range of media. I HOPE this writer is better. I've posted a few tests and some information on the BTC 1016IM (non-card reader version) here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=114370
