Gamesindustry.biz reports that Pioneer and Sony are delaying their Blu-ray
players. To many this will probably come at no suprise as CD Freaks
visitor are almost used to this kind of news. If you could hibernate you
would probably have to set your biological clock to 2009 before you can
finally purchase a blue laser product at an affordable price, that
works.
|
According to the Sony Style website, the BDP-S1 will now ship "on or about
August 15, 2006." The USD 1000 player was originally given a June 30th
launch date, which was later changed to July.
Pioneer has also abandoned the proposed June release date for its
BDP-HD1 player, apparently due to interoperability issues. It will now
launch in September at a price point of USD 1500 - a drop of USD 300 from
the MRP originally suggested. |
While the battle over the follow up of the DVD is
ongoing the delays of equipment seems to be endless. Announcements are made
every week but nearly no blue laser products have hit the shelves, do you
already have any blue laser product or do you know someone who does?

I don't pay any attention to HD-DVD and Blu-Ray any more.
It will come out sometime in the future.
Nothing we can do about it, and this kind of news is just going to keep on comming.
I will stick to DVD for now, I will get blu-ray or HD-DVD when the technology is good. Quality burners and media.

if ps3 can play bd movies at 600usd, why is the standalone costing 1500usd?
according to president of sony computer entertainment, sony is in hardware business meaning making money on ps3, then why is this player so expensive? is sony trying to make ps3 look so inexpensive?
other bd ce partners must be pissed by sony's ps3 price
"if ps3 can play bd movies at 600usd, why is the standalone costing 1500usd?"
Because the circuitry and other components in the standalone will be of higher quality. Think about an xbox or ps2 dvd player compared to a NAD or Krell player.
