BurnOut v1.01 copy protection scanner released

One drawback of some software, audio and video content and especially games delivered on CD and DVD is the use of physical copy protection measures, where instead of relying on serial keys and activation, they aim to prevent one from making a physical copy of the disc.  If a disc backup or emulation utility fails to work on a disc or the original disc fails to work properly, it is nice to know what copy protection is actually in use on the disc or whether it is just a defective disc that actually has no copy protection.  This is where BurnOut helps out.

BurnOut is a copy protection scanner and can scan a wide range of copy protection measures including the majority in use on game CDs and DVDs, Audio CDs, DVD-Video and HD disc formats.  Version 1.01 adds support to detect AACS, DVD-Movie PROTECT, JoWooD X-Prot v1, Protect DVD-Video, Ring-Protech, Softlock, SolidShield, Sysiphus DVD and XCP copy protection systems and offers improved support for 16 other copy protections.  Other improvements include minor GUI changes, bug fixes, performance enhancements and an Italian language interface translation.

The full changelog has been posted by the BurnOut developer on our forum in this thread.  The software is open source and can be downloaded from SourceForge here.

Is this better than ClonyXXL? or the other profilers? I haven't use any of these cdchecks for a long time. I wonder if these are dead already.
