CD Freaks presents: GameJackal 2: The Second Coming!

Forum Moderator and Reviewer Womble , has just completed his look at GameJackal 2, that has just recently been released. The first version was reviewed by Womble as well, and since then we have seen an ever growing number of visitors that have taken keen interest in this interesting and handy software. In the short time that this first review has been up, we have seen over 10,000 views on this program!

The purpose of GameJackal is similar to a CD emulator, in that you no longer need to reach for the CD to play that game. But, GameJackal just uses a fraction of the hard disc space to create a profile for your game to run. So you can keep them all in their jewel cases where they are nice and safe. Loading times are faster too! According to Womble, it's easy to use and to set up your game profiles.

You say your disc came bundled with SafeDisc, LaserLock or some other wonderful protection? No problemo for the GameJackal, it can work with these protections and more. Make sure to stop by our Copy Protection Forum and take a look at the step by step guide Womble has created. He tests the program with a variety of games like: Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun, FarCry and RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 to name just a few.

If you are a gamer, and you like to just start fragging without having to scramble for that optical disc, then this might be of interest. In addition, you can ask questions or add comments in the thread below the review. If you have the first version and would like to read what's new in this latest GameJackal, you can find the very lengthy changelog there as well. Forum member Ockingshay is likely to be around and he is involved in the development of this great software. If you have suggestions or wishes for this program, don't be afraid to speak up!

ReefkeBlacklisting is a way to prevent the game from running using emulation or other third party software (like Game Jackal). It's usually some detection routine built in the copy protection, like SecuROM detects and blacklists Daemon Tools and the Alcohol virtual drive. So my guess is that it won't take long before Game Jackal gets blacklisted too.
