CD Freaks presents: LG GSA-H42N Super Multi DVD-Writer Review

CD Freaks is proud to present a review of LG's latest Super Multi DVD Rewriter, the LG GSA-H42N, which LG USA kindly provided us for review.  This writer features 18x DVD±R, 10x DVD±R DL, 8x DVD+RW and 6x DVD-RW writing performance.

DVD-RAM performance is 12x read & write.  It also features pretty quick read performance of 16x DVD±R and 13x DVD±RW, unlike some DVD writers which limit DVD+R and DVD-R read rates to 12x.

Our reviewer Doug Schwantes (MegaDETH) carried out this extensive review including read, write and disc quality tests of all the recordable media formats the drive supports.  Other tests carried out include the "Sheep Test", CD & DVD over-burning and mini DVD-R/RW tests.

To see how this drive performs in its extensive testing, please check out the review here.  If you have any questions or comments about the review, please feel free to discuss about the review on this dedicated forum thread for this review.

ok, is it just me or is LG bringing out and replacing DVDRW drive models on an almost monthly basis?? i had bought H22L's a couple months back, then last month they were replaced by the H50 series, then i heard there's an H54 series in the channel and now an H42. WTF are they smoking??!? loveit

I\\\'m trying this model now and updated the firmware to RL01, I tried to burn a .cue image of a cd-rom backup and I\\\'m runing into problems when using a Memorex 10x cd-rw media there are many errors when verifyng the data after the burn process, then I tried a TDK 4x cd-rw and seems to be ok when burning using nero 6.6.1.0 but I can\\\'t choose the burning speed in nero when using both of these media

Conclusion: AFAIK I WILL NOT SUGGEST THIS MODEL FOR BURNING CD-R/CD-RWs as it is now
