Today we are proud to present our latest DVD burner review, the Pioneer DVR-115DBK, which Pioneer was kind enough to send us for review. This drive has all the features of the DVR-112D, but with improved DVD+R and DVD-R write performance of 20x. Despite the small speed bump, this did not stop our reviewer Wendy Collins from carrying out an extensive review of the drive, including CD-R/RW, DVD rewritable and dual/double layer write, read and performance tests on a wide variety of media, not to mention many additional tests.
One new change this review brings is the introduction of the "Author's page", which is a page where the reviewer has the freedom to run tests the author feels will enhance the review, including advanced and real world tests that other review team members may not be able to perform or are specific to this drive being reviewed. The purpose here is to try and keep consistency throughout the whole review team to maintain as close consistency as possible throughout the reviews from this point forward. In this review, a couple of additional test highlights include the sheep test, standalone DVD player compatibility test with dual/double layer media, CSS riplock testing and overburning CD-Rs.
To see how this drive stands up in its tests and what effect the additional 2x writing performance has on write time and disc quality, please head over to our review here. As usual, please feel free to comment or ask questions on the review in this dedicated forum thread for the review or by posting a reaction on the review.
