DRM free music sales by EMI shows a increase
According to a news item published at The Inquirer, DRM-free music sales by EMI shows a big increase, variable based on the artist. For example, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon increased by between 272 and 350 percent.

Even if The Inquirer says that it's too early to draw definitive conclusions, it finally seems that people have found a satisfactory way to purchase music without being pestered by DRM infections.

Based on a news item published at Coolfer, however, these numbers could be not reliable. In fact, a quota of these downloads are due to people using iTunes Plus, which enables users to upgrade tracks to unprotected AAC from the older protected AAC versions for $0.30 per track. Upgrading is not the same of a new purchase, so it is necessary to wait some more time to have a more precise idea about the success of DRM free music.

I think the upgrade data shows a lot. If customers are willing to pay the extra $.30 just to get rid of the DRM, that says something.
