DVD home theater system in Japan

Japan is the country where people write books on their mobiles and where the latest technology touches ground. As a simple European I would think the Japanese to massively adopt Blu-ray as the newest home entertainment format. Nevertheless we see that Pioneer isn't introducing a 'blu' home theater system, but a DVD-related product... Is it true that Japan stays loyal to the 'traditional' DVD, and waits a little longer for the HD market to develop?

Pioneer has just announced its newest home entertainment system, the HTZ-373DV, which is a DVD-only product. It offers five 60-Watt satellites, a 60-Watt subwoofer and another 30-Watt speaker. The system's sound quality covers a range of 82Hz - 20kHz. With this being enough for Japan's smaller living rooms and Blu-ray not being massively addopted yet, this could be the right product for Japan.

Will we ever see massive Blu-ray adoption? Currently we don't see anything tangible on the usually tech-savvy island and manufacturers, like Pioneer, aren't taking any risk.

Hypnosis4U2NV"Will we ever see massive Blu-ray adoption?" No. Prices are too high and most people lack the equipment to take advantage of 1080p for mass adoption..
