Farstone VirtualDrive 10 Pro claims to support Starforce 3

Team Havoc used our news submit to tell us that software developer Farstone claims on their product description of VirtualDrive 10 Pro to have beaten the Starforce 3 copy protection. The software is a CD/DVD drive emulator and allows you to use images made from CD or DVD discs on your hard disk but with the behaviour of a CD/DVD reading capable device. This can be useful to decrease loading times or when you just don't want to swap discs.

Unfortunately many copy protections are trying to disable this kind of software or make sure the software they protect don't run on emulated drives as many emulation software make it possible for users to play from e.g. downloaded images. Starforce is one of the these copy protections which seemed till now unbreakable.

What's New in version 10?

  • Improved Game Compatibility: VirtualDrive supports more PC games than any other CD emulator. Supported titles include Madden 2006, Dungeon Siege, Sacred Gold, Advent Rising, and Doom 3
  • Enhanced Disc Support: VirtualDrive copies and converts CD-ROMs, audio CDs, mixed-mode CDs, photo CDs, video CDs (DVD-ROMs data-mode), and unencrypted video DVDs
  • Custom Virtual CD Creation: Compile your own virtual CD that contains favorite tracks, documentation, expansion packs, and custom programs
  • Greater Copyright Protection Support: VirtualDrive supports most major copyright protections, including SafeDisc 1 & 2, SecuROM, Laser Lock, CD-Cops, SecurRom 5, SecuROM 7, and Starforce 1/2/3
  • More Intuitive GUI: Create and manage virtual CDs in user-friendly interface that even a novice can understand

We have not tested if it really works, but we are very interested in the results. So head over to the Farstone website and give it a try, they have a free trial available. Discuss this in our CD & DVD Copy Protection Forum.

ShoebedobedooThis program is a waste of money and time. At their website they also claim it will launch SecuROM 7. I gave it a test with GTA San Andreas (DVD version) and it failed to launch. Frowncry

I downloaded the Virtual Drive 10 Demo from their offical website. I installed it only to find that it almost ruined my OS. I have windows xp, and if it wasnt for the recovery safety measure (the ability to switch the OS to an earlier date) my computer would need reformatting. Caution with this program. I give it a big thumbs down... It was unable to uninstall, and made my computer run soooo slow that it was impossible to even reach the foulder where the files were kept. I say we wait for someone to find a better way around StarForce... Cause for me virtual drive 10 is out of the question. Frown Frownpuke
