Fourth generation PS2 a fact

With Sony trying to penetrate the next-gen console market with their PS3, the Japanese giant now shows its love for one of their success stories: the PlayStation 2. This year Sony will release a new, fourth version of the PS2 in both India and Europe. The new PlayStation 2 will be slimmer and better looking than the earlier versions and the external AC adapters will no longer exist.

The product price won't change and the launch will be by the end of this fiscal year. A Sony spokesman describes the console (PS2) as an entry level console that is made for the first timer. "PS2 is an entry-level console, which helps first timers to enter the gaming zone," he said.

Besides this he speaks of two different marketed products. The PS3 is made for the next-gen gamer, who knows the PlayStation 2 gaming experience while he says a first timer could better start with the PS2 before buying the PlayStation 3.
