Fujitsu
announced a new series of 2.5" hard disk drives (HDDs) specifically designed for 24-hour continuous operation, as requested in entry-level servers or storage systems in enterprise IT equipment.
The new MHZ2 BK Series features a 250 GB capacity and 7,200 RPM rotational speed, but it has also a special attention to power consumption, requiring only 2.3 W for read and write operations.
Moreover, the MHZ2 BS series will also be available, featuring a rotational speed of 5,400 RPM, useful when the highest speed is not necessary but 24/7 reliability is more important. Because of the lower rotational speed, this series has also a lower power consumption (only 2.1 W for read and write operations).
Both series use a 3.0 Gb/s SATA interface.
