According to a news published at
DigiTimes, Gigastorage, a manufacturer of blank optical media, is shifting its production of CD-R media from Taiwan to Thailand.
This move is done as a result of perceived trade barriers for the European and South Korean markets, and moving manufacturing to ASEAN member country Thailand will help Gigastorage overcome these barriers as a result of preferential tariffs.
The production is expected to start in Thailand in June, and may result in cost and manpower savings according to Gigastorage.
