A few days ago we reported that Toshiba lost one billion dollars because of its HD DVD format debacle. Now, Toshiba comes with a revised business forecast. This forecast shows a loss of 65 billion yen ($669 million U.S.), which is less than was forecasted earlier...
Besides the high loss of $669 million, Toshiba as a whole expects lower profits. This business year was definitely not good, but that's something we already knew. What did their revision show us besides a $669 million loss? In the first place Toshiba's PC business and social infrastructure are moving forward strongly and the semiconductor business shows a significant decrease in operating income due to a larger than anticipated decline in sales price of NAND Flash memories. Secondly the income before income taxes and minority interest and net income are also expected to decrease.
So, FY2007 wasn't the best in Toshiba's rich history...
