HD resolution into camcorder-size screen

Current.com.au reported that NEC LCD Technologies has created a camcorder-size screen that delivers Full HD resolution. The pocket-size screen packs 413 pixels per inch and allows 1080p images to be viewed. NEC is proud about their newest creation and claims that if embedded in a professional camera, "highly accurate adjustments of focus" could be made due to its high resolution.

This 2.7-inch screen will also remove the need to check colours on an external monitor, NEC claims. For now both NEC Europe and America are planning to ship the NL9654HL0601J by the end of July. If the screen will ever find its way into mobile phones, this hasn't been confirmed by NEC, but according to Current.com.au the screen would be ideal.

Hopefully we will see more companies with these kinds of creations.

DeadManYou would hardly notice at that size if at all. Pure marketing hype.

DukeNukemAgreed. Watching 1080p on a 2.7 inch screen is like listening to 7.1 audio after someone jams an ice pick in your ear. What's the point? Thank you, thank you. I'm here all week. Don't forget to tip your waitress. clown

I think it's great. Sure it's doubtful you'd be able to see all the detail on a screen that small, but this baby can display every single pixel of the source image. That allows the recorded image to be displayed without some algorithm deciding what is and what isn't an important detail that the operator should see. Everything is shown. The only details that the operator doesn't see are the ones he/she is incapable of seeing. It's not so much about perceiving every minute detail put before you. It's about every minute detail being present to be perceived. This is important for professional work (for which this screen is intended).
