InterVideo WinDVD installations increase to 125 Million

InterVideo, Inc. announced today that more than 125 million copies of WinDVD, have been sold worldwide since its first release in 1999, making it the world's most popular software solution for watching DVDs on a PC. The Platinum version of WinDVD 6 delivers crystal clear video with the smoothest motion playback and full fidelity audio. A universal player, it also provides support for more video and audio formats than any other option.

In addition to delivering the highest-quality DVD, VCD and Audio CD playback, WinDVD 6 Platinum can be used to watch Real, QuickTime, DivX and MPEG-4 video files as well as InterActual-enhanced DVDs. It also supports all of the next-generation high-definition audio and video formats, including DVD-Audio, Intel High Definition Audio, and WMV-HD (Windows Media Video High Definition). To further enhance the audio experience, InterVideo now includes the Audio Booster Pack with advanced features including Dolby Digital, Dolby Headphone, Dolby Virtual Speaker, DTS Digital Surround Sound, and SRS TruSurroundXT.

"125 million users is equivalent to nearly 58 percent of the entire US population," Steve Ro, president and CEO of InterVideo, noted. "We're committed to maintaining WinDVD's tradition of excellence by adding the latest technologies with each new version. With an increase of 25 million installations in just the last six months, our strategy seems to be working."

Fun features such as Quick Clip, Reverse Playback and expanded MyPlayback capabilities are included to make watching videos on a PC or a laptop even more entertaining. With Quick Clips, users can capture a favorite movie scene as an animated picture file that can be easily shared with friends via email or a mobile phone. MyPlayback can be used to create playlists with audio tracks or video files from DVDs, VCDs, SVCDs and CDs. WinDVD6 users can also bookmark favorite parts of DVDs and save them as a file (.bmk) for later viewing or emailing to a friend.

Crabbyappleton"Time-stretching allows users to watch a 1-hour and 20-minute movie on a 1-hour flight by speeding up the playback without loss of audio or video quality. " Maybe TV ought to use this so they can show a whole movie without cutting parts out for the commercials. devil
