For a while, Toshiba seems to have a lead with HD DVD players already on the market, however, Blu-ray is leaping head when it comes to the burner market with LG announcing its Blu-ray drive, the GBW-H10N with 4x BD-R writing speed. The drive also has significant improvements over the competition, such as faster DVD±R writing of up to 12x P-CAV, 8x/10x CD-R/RW writing and even 5x DVD-RAM writing speeds. The drive also features 2x BD-RE support, however like the recently launched Pioneer BDR-101A, this drive does not support the writing of any dual-layer Blu-ray media.
Even when it comes to read back performance, this drive features 4.8x BD-ROM & BD-R single layer (equivalent to 16x DVD), 4x BD-ROM dual-layer and 2x BD-RE single-layer read speeds. The drive also features 16x DVD-ROM and 40x CD-ROM read performance. This will be LG's first Blu-ray drive and is due for launch on the German market around mid June, with a recommended retail price of €799.

LG Electronics, market leader with optical memory drive assemblies, brings its first Blu ray burner to GBW-H10N with the model on the market. With burning speeds of 4x with BD-R- and 2x with BD RH media the youngest member of the LG super multi-family stands out clearly against the competition. The new internal model is besides fully downward-compatibly and thus able, also CDs and DVDs, inclusive DVD RAM (5x), to burn. p the innovative drive assembly concept super multi Blue guarantees that no user must do without the used fuel comfort. The speed improvement reminds me of the time DVD writers first entered the market, however it is interesting to see how quickly the first 4x drive is announced, particularly since the first Blu-ray writer has only just entered the market a few weeks ago! On the other hand, no announcement has been made on how long it will take for 4x BD-R media to reach the market. With the price of the Blu-ray drives and BD-R media at this time, chances are that the time it takes to actually write the disc will be least of the consumer's worries.

(€ 799.00 is the suggested) and this will be a disavantage worse than the CD-R writting speed.
Give it a few months for the companies to get to grips and specs will soon ramp up while prices should drop (along with media prices hopefully).
You'll buy a Blu-Ray Burner to use it for CDs - you tell me and I LMAO.
