LG and Netflix announce plan to deliver movies directly to your television

The two giants Netflix and LG have announced their plan to offer movies directly to your television. They are developing a set-top box that will allow consumers to stream movies directly to their programmed TV.

The collaboration is expected to deliver a compelling new online home entertainment service, says Netflix. This news will probably be reannounced at next week's CES in Las Vegas, which is focusing on digital content and hardware solutions.

No price details are revealed yet, but Home Media Magazine sets the price for the set-top box on $799,00.

$799 ???
for the selection of about 6000 movies,
from their Watch Now List.
:B

they won't sell many of them.
$99 or $59 more like it.
What I wonder is if there will some way to record this, or if this is only going to become a very expensive techie pay-per-view. If one ends up paying for a movie like that, but can only watch it with nothing to show for it, why not save the expense and just rent a DVD from the local video store? If all the factors I've named as possibilities were to somehow all or partly be true, who would want to pay that much for an expensive convenience? How will it give the consumer "control" if the consumer will only be able to watch it and that's it? That "control" would only be for Netflix's benefit in that case.
