- A fingerprint swipe unlocks the disk
- Massive 1TB capacity in a small form factor
- Triple security: biometrics, hardware encryption, chain lock
- Triple interface hard disk for Windows/Mac
LaCie announced it has boosted capacity of its d2 SAFE Hard Drive to a massive 1TB in a compact 2x6x7” solution. The d2 SAFE Hard Drive is equipped with a biometric sensor, 128-bit AES hardware encryption technology, and chain lock port for maximum protection against unauthorized use. It comes in LaCie’s trusted d2 design made of sturdy aluminum alloy with three interfaces - FireWire 800/400 and USB 2.0 - for universal access on Windows® or Mac OS®.
LaCie d2 SAFE provides ultra-secure and convenient data access control via fingerprint recognition. Up to 10 fingerprints (five users with minimum two prints each) can be registered with personal and customized access privileges such as full access to the disk (read/write) or read-only. Once registered, a simple finger swipe locks and unlocks the disk if users need to step away from their desk for a meeting or to run an errand.
The 128-bit AES hardware encryption technology offers the highest level of data security, deemed by the U.S. Government (NSA) in 2003 as secure enough to protect classified information up to the TOP SECRET level. Files are automatically encoded on the hard disk without compromising the performance of FireWire 800.
LaCie d2 SAFE Hard Drive 1TB is available end of June at the suggested retail price of $579.99 (about €430). The 500GB model is currently available via our specialized online and retail dealer network, or through LaCie direct. Disks ship with all cables necessary for immediate use, as well as 1-Click Backup Software for Windows/Mac.
