Lionsgate plans interactive features on Blu-ray

The North American movie distributor Lionsgate plans to add interactive components to their latest Blu-ray films. Ideas that are currently planned are network-connected games and weblogs.

Lionsgate's 'War' title will give viewers the option to join up and play a network-connected game online. Thriller 'Saw IV' will include a movie blog which allows discussion through an internet connected Blu-ray player.

Will all these features be compatible with older Blu-ray players?
This is unlikely. Older players will need an update via firmware, or a replacement by one of the newest Blu-ray players.

Would you buy a new Blu-ray player to enjoy interactive features?
