MSI has announced a new external CD-RW drive. The drive writes CD-Rs at 52x, CD-RWs at 32x and reads CDs with a maximum of 52x. The drive connects to a PC using the USB2.0 interface and comes with Nero 5.x software. The drive is also able to write 90 and 99 minutes media.
With performance of 52x32x52x (maximum write/rewrite/read), MSI's CRE52-M drive can burn a 60-minute CD in less than three minutes. Buffer under-run protection enables users to 'burn and work," running applications while making CDs with less risk of failed burns. Plug-and-play capability using USB 2.0 enables full performance, while maintaining full backward compatibility with original USB standards, although at a reduced speed.
