A report in PC World highlights the news that a patch has been put together by Microsoft to stop the corruption of iPod music libraries, which seemed to be occurring after disconnection to Vista OS machines. Embarrassingly, the bug appears to be linked to the use of the 'Safely Eject Hardware' option, and users had to resort to the 'Restore' feature of the iPod to re-enable the use of the unit. Note that the Apple-recommended method of disconnection, which is to use the 'Eject iPod' function within iTunes, does not cause this corruption.
The patch is scheduled for release as part of an automatic update on Tuesday 22nd May, or users can read more official explanation and download the patch here.
