Mitsumi announces 8x dual format DVD recorder DW-7872TE

Mitsumi Europe is launching an additional DVD-ReWriter on the market which is able to read and write both of today's established DVD formats. The burner, named the DW-7872TE, has an 8x writing capability with DVD+R media, whilst writing at 4x to DVD-R media and DVD+RW media. The burner has a 2x writing speed for DVD-RW media. A software package for audio and video editing is supplied along with the hardware.

As is the case with all optical drives from Mitsumi, the new device also features an effective Buffer Underrun Prevention System with a 2MB buffer memory. The drive is connected to the PC via the IDE interface, thus making installation easier and allowing higher data transfer rates. The new DVD burner can, of course, also write to traditional CD-Rs and CD-RWs '“ at 40x and 24x speed respectively. This makes the new drive optimally equipped for every use.

Availability and price:

The DW-7872TE DVD+/-ReWriter is to be launched at the end of January at a price of EURO 169 including local taxes.

dlathemMy very first CD burner was a Mitsumi. It was a dismal piece of hardware that went in the junk heap. I did not know they were still making optical recorders ;-)
