At FCC.gov there has showed up information about a new NEC burner (again). It has the model name ND-3530A and the most interesting about this drive is that user manual shows support for 8x DVD+R DL burning! For some reason support for writing DVD-R DL is not mentioned in the manual though.

Comparing the specs with the ND-3520A you can see that the CD-RW write speed has increased too, as well as the read speed of CD-RW, DVD-ROM DL and DVD±RW. Please also note that the specifications are subject to change and should be considered as preliminary.
So will the ND-3530A be just a ND-3520A with new firmware then? Well, the block diagrams of the ND-3530A and ND-3520A seem to be identical but the ND-3530A is however a complete new submission to FCC and that indicates that there might be some changes. If you check the detailed schematics you can also see that the PWB (Printed Wiring Board) of the ND-3530A has number PWA-3070 while the PWB of the ND-3520A has number PWA-3059. I guess we will have to wait for the ND-3530A to be released before we know for sure and that might take a while as it wasn't long ago the ND-3520A was announced.
If you want to check the FCC data yourself you can type "ND-35" in the product code field and "NEC" in the applicant name at FCC's search page here.
