Nero 6.6 appears delayed until October 28th

Lvsitano used our news submit to tell us that according to a visitor in the CDRLabs forums from Ahead tech support, the next version of Nero will be a little delayed. Many had been hoping for a new oficial release October 18. In addition, it seems that Nero Digital is taking even longer.

Sorry, the date has been pushed back to October 28th now due to some delays in developing certain features. And the H.264 support for Nero Digital"s MPEG-4 Encoding will more than likely not be available till End of November. We are working hard to finish development sooner, so its possible there will be an earlier release of H.264 support, but do not count on it till end of November. Sorrry for the delay. Regards, Craig

It was an unofficial preview version.

Given the admission of dev issues, I will not be touching this puppy until 6.6.1

I downloaded the unofficial preview and have had no problems with it.

I've been using the preview for 2 weeks and have had no problems with it. I haven't done much with the Nero Digital codec yet but will play with it later. I have the MPEG-2 SVCD plug-in I purchased a long time ago and it worked fine with 6.6 to let me make some SVCD CD's. Also, I made a few home DVD's with no trouble. Recode2 is the best tool for DVD's I have used. cool

Isn't NERO violating standards by allowing you to burn a shorter lead-out ?

Yup I agree. Recode 2 is equal to Cinema Craft Encoder for quality and has a far better GUI.

I have been using the preview edition for a while (without knowing it) - and I have not had a problem at all with my devices except for once (for an unknown reason) a compilation would only burn on a - and not a + DVD ... Besides - i still can't get the short lead-out working on CD ...
