Time to share like we've all never shared before...! Open up that bandwidth...
I went to the website but couldn't find anything specific about how this works. Does this actually hide your IP address or not. All I could find on the website is that it blocks people from seeing exactly which files you are sharing. Which is still cool but didn't say specifically if, or how your IP address was hidden.
Hmm, oh well. just curious.

Kazaa 2.5 has been out since June 2003. Just wondering why they are now releasing 2.4.0...backward compatibility?!

my guess would be that it blockes the known IP's of the RIAA, similar to what peerguardian does.

Kazaa 2.5 has been out, but I think that Kazaa lite is still on version 2.4

Just a thought, but file sharing programs are legal because they do nothing illegal, it's the users that are breaking the law.
If they start masking or blocking IP's then can't the RIAA / MPAA take KaZaA to court saying they are helping pirates with this feature?

The IP list that blocks RIAA etc. is the same as the Peerguardian list. In fact you can update the same way as you would do with Peerguardian's list (manually copy n paste into the file).
This still isn't the siver bullet were looking for. Cause the RIAA has plenty of IP addresses. Who could ever compile the perfect list. Trust me I do want this to succeed.

there should be a project which would update the blacklist. otherwise it'll become outdated. riaa will simply change ip addresses, it's not difficult for them, they've got millions of dollars, they'll simply buy a couple of new static ip addresses and then the old blacklist will become useless
You can also deny access to your shared files now. You can still share, but other users cannot scan your shared directory. Even if you show that you are sharing 2000 files there is no way to print a list to determine if they are Mp3 let alone copyrighted material. That would make it hard to be singled out by the RIAA. IMHO This version is much improved.

The RIAA would only need give a special client to there employees to run on their home PCs to collect all the data they want, and good luck blocking all the home ISP accounts that might belong to the RIAA.

Just to let you all know, for a very long time eMule (the open-source eDonkey project) has stopped you from showing your shared files by default. You have to purposley slect the option to show them.
