Last week some rumors circulated conceirning a possible integration of Blu-ray in the Xbox 360. The rumors started because many thought that Sony and Microsoft were already negotiating about this. Yesterday Aaron Greenberg, group product manager for Xbox 360, squashed these rumors by stating that Microsoft isn't in talks with Sony, nor does it plan to integrate Blu-ray into the console.
"Xbox is not currently in talks with Sony or the Blu-ray Association to integrate Blu-ray into the Xbox experience," Greenberg said in an interview with Reuters. Microsoft stopped with making an HD DVD add-on for the Xbox 360, but now focuses on the console's online service. Xbox Live allows users to rent hundreds of movies, including ones in high-definition. "We're the only console offering digital distribution of entertainment content," Greenberg said.
We can now be sure that the software giant will not integrate Blu-ray in its Xbox. Greenberg's announcement killed many of these web rumors, and its clear that Xbox will now focus on their online service, Xbox Live.
