PLDS announces first external BD-ROM

Philips & Lite-On Digital Solutions announces the introduction of its first external BD-ROM drive to the market. The Blu-ray Disc Reader completes PLDS' Blu-ray product line, since it already consisted of an internal BD-ROM and a BD writer. PLDS' newest product is named the DX-4O1S and will be available in Europe in Q2 2008.

The Lite-On DX-401S external BD-ROM is a universal playback device which seems to be able of reading virtually every available format of optical media apart from HD DVD. This includes BD-R/RE/ROM, single and double layer and at 4X maximum. This could be one of 'the' products of 2008, and because of that we have arranged an exclusive interview with Jelmer Veldman, European Marketing Manager, next week at CeBIT in Hannover.

We will tape the interview and as soon as possible you will be able to watch our video on CDFreaks.com. Many companies will have a few minutes to say what they want and our team will constantly bring the latest from the marketplace.

If anyone has a question for PLDS, maybe on their newest external BD-ROM, please react to this news item!
